Beautiful Vancouver Sunset Session | Best locations in town! Vancouver Family Photographer

Are you thinking about booking a Vancouver sunset session for your next family photo? Ever see those golden sunset photos with the gorgeous Vancouver backdrop? Some locations are better than others to capture the glowing sunsets. Here are a few of my favourite spots for a nice sunset session in the Greater Vancouver area.

City Sunset Session – Kitsilano Beach

If you are located in Vancouver, this beach is no stranger to you! We have beautiful ocean fronts and rocky beaches, perfect for an evening family photo session. I like this spot even though it can get quite crowded sometimes. The beach is expansive, so we can definitely find a spot where there are less people. The sunset can be seen from all corners of this beach! A very popular sunset session location.

Sunny South Surrey – Blackie Spit

About 30 minutes outside of Vancouver, you’ll find this gem situated in South Surrey. A beautiful park with an abundance of nature and wildlife, this park has fields, trails, and a stunning beach! It is so versatile and offers a wide range of scenery. You’ll see crowds enjoying their time during sunset and even through out the day. The sun position does change a bit over the year, but it is beautiful regardless.

Sunset Session in Richmond – Garry Point

Garry Point is beautiful in every season! In spring it is blooming with cherry blossoms, and in the summer the park turns into a field of gold. I like this location for its vast open field and the sun sets directly behind the hills.

Sunset sessions are booked 1 hour prior to sunset, that means the session start time does change every month. If your kids have an early bedtime, a early spring or late fall session would start around 4pm. If you want to book a session after work, summer sessions start after 7 or 8pm! There is always a chance we won’t get sun, but overcast weather and dramatic clouds have their own flare too. Vancouver is perfectly situated along the coast and we have so many beaches to choose from! Sunset is a beautiful time of day to have your family photo session!
