Yay! You’re a new parent, naturally you are excited and exhausted. You’ve booked newborn photos at home but have no idea what to wear? Let me help take some of the stress away by giving some simple ideas!
I always suggest a neutral or simple onesie. We can also have some swaddle blankets, or even baby in their diapers! Keeping the outfit simple with minimal patterns and avoid any large graphics. We don’t want many distracting elements to our newborn photos. Do have a few outfits on hand in case we have a diaper explosion or some spit up.
Choose something that is flowy, easy to to move around in, and comfortable! You’ve just delivered a baby and your body is still changing. I love seeing moms wear nursing friendly outfits, then we can capture some beautiful feeding moments. A simple top with buttons, a maxi dress with a cardigan, or a flowy shirt are all great ideas! Feel free to pamper your hands, style your hair, or wear some makeup. When I was a first time mom, I was too tired and there are no images where I felt beautiful. So I would love to help create some memories that moms can look and feel their best.
Try to coordinate mom’s outfit colours with dad, so we don’t clash or have too much patterns competing. I suggest plain sweater or simple shirts with some nice pants. In-home sessions take place in your home but try to avoid loungewear! Remember to empty your pockets so we don’t have any phone or keys bulk in your photos!
Newborn session doesn’t need to be stressful, my top priority is that you feel comfortable. If you need help choosing an outfit, give me a shout! I will give you some Pintrest boards for inspiration.
