I am a Vancouver newborn photographer, my name is Annie. I offer lifestyle newborn sessions in the comforts of your home.
Let’s talk about the type of newborn photo sessions you might see on the market: Props, traditional, and lifestyle.
Props
There is the prop style, where you see babies in bunny ears, placed in baskets, sleeping soundly. This type of photo sessions can sometimes last 3 hours, since they have to change baby outfits, wait for baby to fall asleep, also a bit dangerous as some of the poses are not necessarily safe.
Traditional
The traditional newborn portraits. This usually take place in a photo studio, with artificial lighting. Parents are posed perfectly for smiling photos, holding their babies in awkward positions.
I offer lifestyle newborn session, which takes place in the comforts of your home. No props, no awkward poses, just you celebrating the arrival of the new baby. During a lifestyle newborn session, I will guide you to interact with your family, and capture those emotions that come from the guided prompts. It’s not quite documentary, not quite traditional. The results are emotive connections you would not get if you were concentrating at smiling at the camera. I believe babies look most natural in the arms of their parents. I always ask the parents to hold the baby how they would normally.
These first moments are so precious and I want families to look back and remember the rocking, the feeding, the tiny hands, the baby smell. I want families to fall in love with these images every time they look back at them. Every moment is fleeting, we can only keep our memories.
