I am a lifestyle family photographer, and what does that mean? I photograph families, their connections, and beautiful, intimate moments.
There are three main categories when it comes to family photography: Traditional, documentary, and lifestyle.
Traditional
Most people are more familiar with traditional family portraits, where everyone is posed perfectly, and smiling at the camera. This is often done in a studio setting, with backdrops, and families dressed in formal attire.
Documentary
These photos capture moments as they happen, the photographer is virtually invisible, and simply documents your family going about your day. This is a realistic journalistic approach to photographing some candid moments.
Lifestyle Family Photography
Lifestyle photography lies somewhere in-between these two above. As a photographer, I will guide and pose my families, and I will engage to help create genuine interactions between your family. I make you feel comfortable enough that you are not aware or awkward in front of the camera, and I will capture those giggles and meltdowns! I am not concerned about looking perfect, or smiling photos, I want you to be present in the moment.
If you like fun and laid back family photos, I may be the photographer for you! I don’t ask you to pose or say cheese, but I will offer gentle guidance on where to stand, and how to interact with your loved ones!
